Whether your DEM or REP, you have got to admit this election is going to be exciting.  We are going to make US History no matter who is elected. I am thrilled at the turn of events, with John McCain announcing his female running mate. I will need to do some research on these VEEP's but I am excited.

What do you think?

Here we are in the middle of election year and all we hear about is how this country needs the government to take control of all sorts of things (i.e. healthcare, fuel prices, energy sources, just to name a few). I was under the impression that this country was Democracy not a Dictatorship.  And if we allow our government to take control of all these things our country has become a Dictatorship. I want to know what happened to Personal Responsibility of our own lives.  Our constitution says we are entitled to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.  No body ever said we would succeed to happiness or that it would be easy, only that we have the right to pursue it.  Our government should not control whether we are happy or comfortable only that we are given the right and opportunity to pursue it.  It's not the government's fault if we don't do our best or if our best fails and we get knocked down, we as human beings should get up and try again. It's not the goverments responsibility to make sure we get fed, it is ours, it's not the goverment's responsibilty to make sure we have a job, it is ours. It's not the government's responsibilty to make sure we have health insurance, low prices, digital TV or any other amenity it is ours.  No one ever said it would be easy, but at least we have a chance.  Look at Afghanistan or other non-free country, they don't have any of these amenities nor the chance to posess them unless the government wants them to have it.

I wrote all that to get to this:  We are responsible for ourselves as Americans and humans we should reach out and help those in need because it's the right thing to do and we ourselves may need that help in return one day, however it is not the government's responsibiliy to take care of us or our daily lives, it is ours. It is time we all took a stand for ourselves and quit depending on the government to dictate what we as Americans and as humans should and can do for ourselves.

I have heard several times in the media the last few months how people are leaving their pets behind because of tough economical times.  This rips my heart out and brings me to tears each time I hear it.

I wonder, tho, how hard did they try to hang on to them?  Did they cancel their Cable TV? Did they stop eating out? Did they cancel their cell phones or their internet access? Did they ask for help at the local agencies that can/will give food for animals? Did they reduce their needless spending somewhere else before they relinquished their pet?

With so many stories, I feel that these things were not done in most cases, maybe in some but not in most.

I know not every one is willing to sacrifice for an animal like I will, but do they take these things into consideration before they take on this responsibility of owning a pet?

This is just something to think about, pets didn't choose you, you chose them, please do all you can to hold on to them and ask for help if needed, don't abandon them.

I love animals and all outdoor activities. I also realize that life isn't always roses and caviar (not that I've ever had caviar), however I appreciate the good times because of the bad ones. I wish the best for everybody and help when I can. I am blessed way more than I deserve and am thankful everyday for it. I have three dogs (Shadow-German Sheperd, Bandit-Border Collie & Ozzy-Great Dane Mix), two cats (L.E. & Question), an African Grey Parrot (Roscoe) and Several fish (indoors & out) and a wonderful husband.
