This morning during our daily company meeting at work, they had a drawing for 5 sets of tickets to this Saturday night's All Star Race at Lowes Motor Speedway. Once again, I won 2 tickets. With these tickets, we get to go to the Lowes tent outside of turn 1 for a buffet dinner and drivers will make random appearances.

I just hope that Dale Jr. does the same thing that he did in Richmond about 2 weeks ago, (hit the wall!!!)

We have had a sign up sheet in the break room at work for about one and a half weeks to win tickets to Saturday nights Sprint Cup Race at Richmond. My sister-in-law's husband put his name on the sheet. Not being outdone, I put my name on the sheet. Well, this morning we had the drawing. Lowes Distribution Center, (the company I work for), was giving away 5 sets of tickets. The five names that were drawn got two tickets. The first name pulled wasn't either one of us, neither was the second or third names. On the fourth draw, my name was pulled. I looked over at my sister-in-law's husband and smiled. The fifth name was pulled and it wasn't his. I looked at him and just shook my head...don't worry though, I gave him my extra ticket. So, Saturday morning, we are heading to Richmond for the race.

I had the tv on ESPN and they told about a guy that was doing work at the new Yankee Stadium took a Boston Red Sox baseball jersey and buried it in some concrete that had been poured. Word leaked out about it and today some guys drilled through the concrete and pulled out the Red Sox jersey.  Hank Steinbrenner, George's son, was furious. He made the comment about potentially filing a lawsuit against the guy that placed the jersey there.

Now here's the catch: the guy that placed the jersey in the concrete was born and raised in the Bronx, (home of the Yankees), but is a HUGE BOSTON RED SOX FAN!!!!

How can he be born and raised in the Bronx, and be a Red Sox fan? To me, it sounds like the guy is a really smart man, (not to pull for the Yankees!!!!) LOL!!!

Do you think that Steinbrenner should file a lawsuit on this guy or should it be just for fun? Let me know what ya think!!!

GOOD OL' ROCKY TOP!!!!!!!!!!

The Lady Vol's of Tennessee just won the ladies NCAA National Championship for the second year in a row!!!! This makes the 8th National Championship for Pat Summitt, the greatest basketball coach in history.

As ya'll know, I am a BIG Tennessee fan. I bleed Carolina Blue and Tennessee Orange!!! I was disappointed when the men of Tennessee and Carolina got knocked out of the big dance, but this National Championship makes up for that!!!

GOOD OL' ROCKY TOP, ROCKY TOP TENNESSEE!!!

Last night, World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) had their 2008 Hall of Fame Inductions.  The inductees were: The Briscoe Brothers, Mae Young, Rocky Johnson, the late "High Chief" Peter Miavia, the late Eddie Graham, the late Gordon Solie, and my all time favorite wrestler, "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair.

The final hour of the ceremonies were shown on the USA Network, so I got to see "The Rock" Dwayne Johnson induct his father (Rocky Johnson) and his grandfather (Peter Miavia) into the HOF. To me, the highlight came at the last induction, when another one of my favorites, Triple H inducted "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair. As I was watching Ric give his acceptance speech, I couldn't help but to think about all the times I saw him at the Greensboro Coliseum when wrestling was divided up in regional territories. They would wrestle in Greensboro about every 2-3 weeks. Ahh, those were the good ol' days of wrestling.

As I finish up this blog, I have only one thing left to say:

                                      WOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Since the race was at my favorite track, (Bristol), I decided to tape the race and watch it later. Well, I just finished watching it, and I must admit that I LOVED the finish. Jeff Burton 1st, Kevin Harvick 2nd, and Clint Bowyer 3rd.

Anyone that has read my bio will see that my favorite race teams are any RCR teams, so this finish today was extra sweet for me. The reasons RCR teams are my favorite is simple: my dad used to work for Richard from 1991 until around 2003 when my dad came down with diabetes and retired. Dad used to do the yard work at the raceshop and out at Richard's house and farm. The other reason RCR is my favorite is because of the late, great Dale Earnhardt.

I know in todays race, Harvick tapped Tony Stewart and put him in the wall. Before the Tony fans start, let me say this: Other than the RCR drivers, Tony is another one of my favorites. But hey, this is Bristol, the most EXCITING track on the NASCAR circuit.

Congrats to the entire RCR organization.

This is one tape that will be labeled to keep from getting erased, and going into my NASCAR archives.

Without a doubt, the driver that is on fire right now in NASCAR is Kyle Busch. He is the current points leader, and today, he gave Toyota their first victory in Sprint Cup. As we all know, Rick Hendrick released him last year so that Dale Jr. could come on board.

So far this season, Hendrick Motorsports has been shut out in the wins column. Personally, I hope it happens for 32 more races.

One quick question: Do ya'll think Hendrick is having 2nd thoughts for releasing "Rowdy" Busch?

How sweet it is. The new college basketball poll were released earlier today, and my two favorite teams are ranked 1 and 2. The Tennessee Volunteers are ranked #1, and the Carolina Tarheels are ranked #2.

All I have to say is:

GOOD OL' ROCKY TOP

ROCKY TOP TENNESSEE!!!

I was on NASCAR.com the other night and as one of their headlines, it stated that Kyle and Pattie Petty was going to build Victory Junction Gang Camp #2 around the Kansas City area.

My youngest daughter has spent a week there for the last three years. She goes during asthma and heart week.

We was down at Victory Junction back in May of '06 for the open house, and I got to meet my all-time favorite driver, "The King" Richard Petty and also Kurt Busch. I got both of their autographs and had my picture taken with both of them. Then in December of '06, we were there for the Christmas party for the kids, and I got to meet Kyle Petty and get his autograph.

I told my daughter when she went there the first time, not to come back until she got Richard and Kyle's autograph for me. When she got home, she said that she got them for me, but she lost them somewhere along the way. So, I had to go and get my own autographs, but it was worth it. Just seeing the kids that get to go to camp there, and knowing that when they are down there for just that one week, they can forget about whatever disease that they have. That is enough to soften any heart up. I know, because I have left from there with tears in my eyes.

I wrote all of this just to say this: I am all for the Victory Junction Gang Camp2. How 'bout you?

Well, the Nationwide series race at Daytona just ended. Dale Jr. DID NOT win the race. Reason being: He can't win when the race has a full field of 43 cars in the race. The 2 races he has won during speedweeks had ONLY half the field in it.

As they used to do on Hee Haw: JR Nation Population: 1 less than there used to be... SA-LUTE!!!!

I have responded to several blogs stating that I hope Dale Jr. wins as many races this year as he did last year, (none). Well, he won the Bud Shootout last Saturday night and won the first duel race today. That is okay, because these are non-point races. Hopefully these will be the only races he wins this season.

Now for the reason Jr. lost this fan: Last year he wanted majority ownership of Dale Earnhardt Inc. and Teresa would not give it to him. She said that he could buy his half, but she was NOT going to just give it to him. So, what does he do? He gets mad and says that he is leaving the company that his daddy built from the ground up. Personally, I thought Teresa did the right thing by not giving in. Everyone looks at Teresa as the 'bad guy', but did you or Dale Jr. ever stop to look at this: Dale had 4 kids: Kerry, Kelly, Dale Jr. and Taylor Nicole. Maybe Dale left it in his will that when he and Teresa are gone, the company would be split 4 ways giving each one 25% ownership. Now if Teresa would have given in to Little E's demands, how could it be split EVENLY?!?!?

Dale was courted by several big name teams last year after he made the announcement that he was leaving DEI. Hendrick Motorsports, Joe Gibbs Racing, and Richard Childress just to name a few. Yes, I was hoping at first that he would drive for Richard, and maybe see the #3 car back on the track again. But when it was all said and done, he signed a 5 year deal to drive for Rick Hendrick.

I hope Mark Martin and Martin Truex Jr. have real good seasons this year and can run towards the front of the field. That way everyone will see that DEI can survive without a Dale Jr.

I figure I will get a lot of heat from this blog. So, if ya agree or disagree, DON'T SING IT, JUST BRING IT!!!!!!!

Well, the Super Bowl that I hoped would happen won't be this year. I was hoping that it would come down to The Dallas Cowboys and the Indianapolis Colts. As we know, both teams went down in defeat Sunday. This Sunday will be "Championship Sunday" with the two winners facing off in the Super Bowl. The NFC game is between the New York Giants and the Green Bay Packers, and the AFC game is between the San Diego Chargers and the New England Patriots. I hope that Green Bay whips Eli Manning and the Giants. I also hope that San Diego whips New England. I would love to see Eli Manning get sacked on every play, (but I know that won't happen!) As I have stated, I am wanting the Super Bowl to be Green Bay and San Diego. My question is this: Who do you want to go to the Super Bowl? All answers welcome.

I just went to yahoo.com to check my e-mails. While I was still on yahoo's home page, I clicked on NASCAR  to see what was going on. They had an article that said Bruton Smith had reached an agreement to buy  the New Hampshire race track. He is supposed to make an announcement sometime Friday in Texas.  They are saying that he will buy the track and move the September race, (race #1 in the chase for the cup), to Las Vegas so that they can have two races a year.

This is just my views on Nascar. You may agree or disagree with this blog. Either way, let me know!

1.  I don't like the provisional rule. That is where a PAST champion can make the race even if he doesn't have a qualifing time that would have gotten him in the race. With a provisional, chances are that someone that made the field based on speed will be going home so a PAST champion can race. THAT AIN'T RIGHT!!!!!!

2. I don't like the top 35 rule either. That rule says that if you are in the top 35 in points, you are automatically in the race regardless of where you qualify. Here is an example of this: Lets say 44 teams show up for this weekends race. Jeff Gordon, the points leader, qualifies in 44th position. Then you have Sam Hornish Jr. qualifies in 43rd position. Now Nascar is only gonna run 43 cars, so by  being in the top 35 in points, Jeff races and Sam goes home. THAT AIN'T RIGHT!!!!!! Make the rule to where if you originally qualify OUTSIDE THE TOP 43, YOU GO HOME REGARDLESS OF WHERE YOU ARE IN THE TOP 35 IN POINTS!!!!!!! THAT WOULD MAKE IT RIGHT!!!!!!

3. Letting the Nextel, soon to be Sprint Cup, drivers race in the Busch, again soon to be Nationwide Series,  is too much. The regulars in the Busch series are trying to make a name for themselves and get to the next level. It is kinda hard for them to do when you have half the cup guys that are racing on Sunday to invade on Saturday. Granted, I am sure that the tracks get more attendance when half of Sunday's field runs on Saturday. Tell the Nextel Cup drivers to pick the ONE series that they want to run in, and STAY IN THAT SERIES ONLY!!!!!!

4. Leave the racetracks right where they are. Lowes has been at that same spot for decades and it has done wonderfully. Just because Bruton was first told NO  by the city council of Concord, he gets in an uproar. Well, go ahead and move it to South Carolina.  Just like the jobs here in North Carolina moving out, I guess Lowes Motor Speedway will too. At least Bruton ain't thinking Mexico. (NOT YET!!)

These are just some of my views on Nascar. Let me know if you agree or disagree! Well I gotta go. I need to go play Nascar 06 on my playstation 2. At least on Nascar 06, Lowes Motor Speedway will always be in the same place!!!!!!

After seeing the first top 8 football poll, I have one question. WHERE WAS NORTH DAVIDSON AT? I don't agree with Thomasville being ranked fourth. The reason I don't agree with that is because Thomasville hasn't had any stiff competition since Albemarle was taken out of their conference a few years ago. North Davidson plays a stiffer schedule than Thomasville does, so I feel that North should have been ranked SOMEWHERE in the top 8. Yes, I may live in Thomasville, but I have a daughter that is in the color guard at North Davidson. Since I am a truck driver, I have only been able to see North play twice this year. The first game was againest Ledford, and the other game was againest Lexington, (my old high school.) During both games I was really impressed at how good North played. Granted, they didn't put up a Thomasville score, they played hard and got the win. I just want to see North Davidson make the rankings.
