After seeing the story about the baby that was born at 21/22 weeks and weighed about 9 ounces, I felt compelled to write this blog.  You see, I know a lot about micro-preemie babies because in 2005 I had my son Zachary at 25 weeks.  He weighed a little over a pound when he was born and actually lost weight down to about a pound after losing fluid in the hospital.

It is a Miracle that these babies can survive and if you have ever been to Brenner Children's Hospital or Forsyth's NICU you have been a witness to the miracles that happen there.  I could actually feel the angels around me while I sat with my little baby boy daily and watched him hang on for dear life.

I'm so glad for the girl who had the precious little baby girl a few weeks ago, and her baby is still hanging in there after a few weeks with signs of improvement and perhaps she will leave the hospital as we did in October 2005.  With a happy healthy baby boy who was given little chance of survival and is now very healthy with no sign of any issues related to his prematurity.

Thanks from my family to the wonderful doctors and nurses at HPRHS where my son was born and to the whole NICU staff at Brenner's Children's hospital where he stayed for the first three+ months of his life.  Miracles do happen !!!

What a wonderful post! Thank you for sharing your story. You are so right -- there isn't enough praise for the dedicated people who work in NICUs. Congratulations on your precious baby boy and thank you for reminding us of the miracles that are all around us.

Your're welcome. I'd like to also say that anyone who needs support when going through something like this should check out the March of Dimes website for stories of encouragement and they can also share their own story.

The March of Dimes is wonderful!! working with novant we often do many charity drives... one of my favorites is Bikers for Babies... It is so wonderful to see these big biker men riding for these tiny miracle babies... I think it is soo amazing that these little guys(and girls) survive it just proves to me and I pray to everyone else that there is a God... My son was 1 week and 1/2 late and weighed 8 lbs 8.4 oz.. but even at that he was a miracle... I have endometriosis and underwent surgery to be able to conceive, right now I am under going treatment but it is still uncertain if I will have more, but to all of these miracle babies aren't they a treasure!!!

I am a 35 year old stay at home mom who is married and has four wonderful children. I enjoy kayaking, see my pictures of me and my husband on Oak Hollow lake last year. My kids are great, I have two toddlers, a six year old and a 12 year old step-daughter. There are soooo many things I am interested in that I won't bore you with a long list. Most of the time whatever we are doing it is family related. I believe it is important to be connected to your family...I have a wonderful mom and dad to thank for that. I love critters, I have a Lionhead Bunny named Pippin, after one of the Lord of The Rings hobbits, and a guinee pig named Guinee..(how original right?)I'd have more furkids if my husband would let me. Music is one of my passions, I love the guitar...wish I could play better than I do. My favorite all time Rock band is Queen...Freddie Mercury could sing like an angel. Favorite movies...we watch A LOT of movies... Pans Labyrinth Lord Of The Rings (all three) The Wizard of Oz Stardust (if you haven't seen this movie yet you have to rent it...) Night at The Roxbury Pretty in Pink Neverending Story Bridge to Teribithia I guess that is enough about me...are you MEGO yet?
