The Governor needs to go on a diet.

When Mike Easley  first became our Governor after the long rein of Jim Hunt, I had hopes that we might at last get a little bit of a break from all the taxes that Jim Hunt blessed us with.

Cough cough!  What?

Easley will go down in history as one of the greediest governors in our state's history. Jim Hunt gave us (at the time), the highest gasoline taxes in the nation...Easley upped the taxes on gasoline.

Easley got our income taxes raised, sales taxes raised, more taxes (to some citizens happy approval) on cigarettes, have been trying to start toll roads for the state, and the State Lottery. He is always  saying that the money is going for road improvements, or education.

It seems that Easley is always wanting to raise taxes.

Now, what is it this time? He wants to raise some more sin taxes for you guessed it right, (education, and highways).

What I want is some accounting for the taxes you already collect.

I worry when a politician nears the end of his term in office. It is that time when they often pay off their political debts, and leave we citizens to pay the price. Easley will be no different.

Why is it that Guilford County is having to raise Bonds to pay for school construction? Why are we needing to raise taxes for teachers salaries? I am all for the school teachers receiving a decent salary for the important work they do.

I want a pay raise for my self as well. My costs of living have quadrupled in the last 16 years since I last had a pay raise. I will add that most of the working class have not seen a pay increase in years as well. Employers do not have to give pay increases as long as we are in a jobs slump, with hundreds of thousands of jobs shipped overseas.

That said I do not support the governor's taxing scheme. I want to know where that "Education" Lottery money is, and how it is being spent.

I also want to know where the state highway use taxes are going, along with those gasoline taxes.

I want to know why Governor Easley  is wanting to  raise taxes again on us, when our state is undergoing one of the worst economic slumps in modern history. I also will hold accountable the state legislature  responsible  as they  are always  stand  ready  to  approve  the Governor's every whim!

It is high time the people of the Great State of North Carolina stand up and just say NO!

TAX HIKE MIKE strikes again! -

No doubt he needed an Italian getaway after all that hard work.....

No doubt it was surely a "working" vacation....I mean, really, what can an outgoing Governor possibly do for us in Ialy for a week? - Don't even mention "promoting tourism", not for that much money to send him!

Maybe he went to see how they build roads that last longer than 3 years?

A lot of school supplies could have been bought for that "vacation...

I am many things, and have done many things in my life. I was a musician in my early life, and later a manager of a machinery mfg. company. My politics, well lets just say that my leanings are toward that of the Whigs of the American revolution. I am thinking that if one's government does not serve one's interest, then you are to do your civic duty, and get get a new government. The folks in office work for "We the People", and not the other way around. My passions, I love the out of doors, fishing, and Photography. Come view my photos that are posted here.
