I just read on Fox8 that a Forsyth County school resource officer confiscated a loaded HANDGUN from a 15 year old student on school grounds and arrested him for felony possession of a firearm on education property. I can't believe this could happen with all of the signs up on the campuses of schools statewide that say this is a "Weapon and drug free school zone." I don't see why their are so many people opposed to allowing a faculty member or other individual who is of age and met the requirements to legally carry a gun do so. I think this shows a person intent on bringing a weapon to a school for whatever reason can do so reasonably easy. If the unsung hero of this story, the resource officer would not have stopped this person what might have happened? He is already UNDERAGE for legal ownership of a firearm, has obviously either stolen or bought the weapon illegally from someone(Who also needs to be charged and prosecuted) so much for the current laws in place, like usual the criminal ignores them, the only person it stops is the law abiding one who legally wants to protect themselves from this type of person. I feel that the knowledge that their may be many armed members on a campus is a far better deterrence than any sign, the proof is in the several colleges around the U.S. that allow concealed carry they have had no such incidents. "Just the facts" provided this link before in one of Cindy Farmers blogs I am going to repost it.   http://www.concealedcampus.org/answers.pdf
...........  I know.... let's sue the makers of the signs because they are apparently defective and not working.

You know me and I agree with you.
This is the one the SRO found. I am willing to bet there are plenty more unfound everyday in most of our schools. I was told by a high schooler not more than two years ago, "I can get you what ever you want". I believe that.
Thank God for our SRO's as we have spoken before they deserve all the support in the world.

I believe this to be true and though I do not know if it is state, county or city school rule, it is true in GCSS.
If a student is found with a firearm in school he is removed from the school for a certain number of days,(almost a year) though by my understanding is allowed to attend another school.

Hank, here is the rule the way it appears on the website. I don't know if a violator can attend another school.

You are exactly correct gadget.
I am 99.9999% sure they can attend another school even though suspended for the 365 days. That is just so wrong. I am a a bit confused at what is being taught
