An experienced and popular teacher in Ohio was recently removed from the classroom for introducing the idea that the theory of evolution (as with all theories) might possibly have flaws. Noting that the theory has been massaged, adjusted and reorganized over the decades, he encouraged his students to consider its weaknesses.
This is not a post on the theory of evolution, but rather how the media culture approaches the theory. In covering the story, the CBS radio reporter used as her example of some of the "controversial" material taught by the teacher the notion that (and I paraphrase) "he taught that carbon dating cannot be used to date dinosaur fossils or that it proves the earth is billions of years old."
Well, that is hardly "controversial," in fact, the teacher's statement is scientifically and horribly accurate. CBS should be embarrassed to have questioned his clear, scientific statement of fact."Carbon dating" is a method that it used on carbon-based items and (in simple terms) measures a rate of decay at the atomic level. The problem with using it to try and prove that dinosaurs lived millions of years ago or that the earth is four billion years old is that carbon dating can measure, at best (in pure conditions), up to 60 thousand years (and even that number is questionably high and assumes certain conditions).
Despite this glaring truth, "carbon dating" is still trotted out as "evidence" for things
assumed to be millions or even billions of years old. Radio personality
Michael Savage holds advanced science degrees and prides himself on his understanding of scientific arguments in popular culture, yet on his show last week he declared that "carbon dating" more or less proved evolution and the "millions of years ago" theory.
On another site I frequent, Creationists were called "dangerous" and derided as ignorant by a writer who referenced (you guessed it) "carbon dating" as his "proof." Who's the "ignorant" one?
I think I'll write a nasty letter to Thomas Jefferson and ask him to remove the references to the Creator in the Declaration of Independence. After all, we all know that our rights are derived
solely from government. Aren't they?

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Scotty Wayne's family, friends and classmates. He was killed Saturday when the car he was riding in went off Interstate 85 north of Lexington and hit some trees.
Wayne was a star on Southern Guilford H.S. football team and had reportedly accepted a full athletic scholarship to East Carolina University.

Hi Julie Luck,
Now in between these moves, I think it was apropiate to mention about the apology for doing this to your webpage and that is it. I had to move to tvsbiggestfan1 cause it's my email. Now with changes of fox 8 new facelit. Fox in front of the red strip on top, blue box with the 8 font in front of it and news and wghp and tempurature , degree marks and day, time and time on everything, WGHP-TV 8 started the logo in 1967, Futura thin shows the logo in 1971 and the next font show call letters in 1974 and then in 1982 during now is the time and a look to your new friends and in 1985 with that special felling and turn to 8, TV 8 WGHP was assembled and then with WGH..Piedmont 8, which was a funny joke and can't make your abc in circle and now some big news replacing wghpiedmont, fox 8 sound a lot better with graphic and so much more 7 years later and then with the new scenry boxes and words with laser magic with your station package, Neil McNeil was the one you and the girls did in the newsroom. But it was a little disturbing when tropical storm hannah and not ike was torturing the beaches and was interupting regularly scheduled program. When you made abc 8 and now fox 8 a news stationof fox televison stations, the packages said them all that you're a member of the fox family. Now with abc 45 20 years later, you're not an abc family. what sad loss. With Mike Blackman still resting and being with the family, you are now the head of the fox 8 newsteam. FOX is doing some graphic for entertainment with shapes and the fox 8 logo for you. So tell me how old is Neil McNeil after 25 years and now still working on some story with a hair change?

Neill McNeill is celebrating his 25th anniversary at WGHP. In 1983, he began as a young, bright and tenacious reporter shortly after graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Since then, he quickly rose the ranks.
Many viewers have grown up watching Neill. He has been the source of information, a trusted journalist and a voice of reason.
Neill is a very humble man who doesn't like to call attention to himself but his years of service should be recognized. Congratulations Neill for your 25 years of hard work!

What are taxes? Taxes are to provide for the PEOPLE, US what they cannot provide on their own! Without taxes Politicians would not have a Job, Nor would We have "THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA"!!! Our job is to make sure the Politicians spend OUR MONEY wisely. Nobody likes TAXES but they are necessary.

I read an article on the internet about the reviews on the debate. There were some good reviews on Palin and some not so good. I heard words like folksy, and about her winking ect. So what! She is being Sarah. She is not a Washington loud mouth politician. She is more or less a country girl from Alaska. She is just being herself. If people can't handle others being themselves, then they are living in a make believe world. Would you rather she try to feed you a bunch of bull then try to lie her way out of it? That's the normal way of politics. Maybe she doesn't have all the answers and maybe she isn't as knowledgeable as others. But, she is honest and that is more then we have had in Washington in many years. So people, no matter way you are going to vote, at least treat this lady like what she is. A mother and a lady. She reminds me a lot of my wife and maybe she reminds you of yours or your mom or sister. Respect doesn't cost anything.

We had a story on the FOX 8 Morning News today (Friday) that at first made me laugh outloud, then made me feel sorry for the Mom, then made me look at it from the cop's viewpoint, then... made me glad I had girls!!! ;o)
It seems a mother of two had been shopping with her children. She was at her car putting the youngest daughter in her car seat... when her three year old had to GO. And I mean GO he went! He pulled his little britches down enough and urinated right there on her tire. He's three years old. The mom said he told her that he had to go.. and she was looking at the stores in the she shopping center... checking her options... and when she looked over.. he had already picked his spot! His activity was noticed by a police officer who just happened to be driving by.. in an unmarked car. He stopped and talked to the mother.. told her he worked with the police department, but never showed a badge. He also said he was going to contact social services. He asked her for her personal information. It scared her so much that she drove to the police station. She thought the man was a predator and was even more rattled when he followed her to the station. Once there, he finally showed her a badge and ticketed her for "Contributing To The Deliquentcy Of A Minor". Was he right? Should she had received a ticket? Have you ever had a similar experience?
