To those that claim some try to insist racism is over; Many say racism is never over because it is proven time & time again by these so-called "civil rights groups & activists" that are so one-sided in their views & opinions. Look at the Detroit Mayor's racist State Of The City speech where he called people "outsiders & lynching mobs", not to mention dropping the "n' bomb that was supposedly buried. Look at Rev. Wrights' racist remarks heard around the nation & the world, Rev. Sheffields' remarks concerning Oakland County & L. Brooks Patterson because he wouldn't sit in on the Cobo Expansion, Look at Barbara Rose-Collins statement saying that having a white suburbanite on a city board is "akin to the slave-master mentality', look at Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick calling out the masses to protect her thug son with racist remarks directed at the suburbs and the list here in the Metro Detroit area alone could go on & on. And I'm certain many major cities elsewhere have similar issues. Then the question must be answered, who really are the racists in today's society as a whole & why? Who is always the first to look at color before morals, character, and truth? Who has the ludicrous mentality to believe that "Jim Crow Laws" still exist in today's society? Why would any culture need Affirmative Action instead of standing in the same line as all Americans do? Decent Americans of all cultures eyes are opening wider by the day; America is becoming sick of the same broken record being remixed and/or twisted to fit any negative issue concerning color. Becoming part of the problem & not part of the solution is the answer so many of all cultures avoid. Racism may exist in all cultures, but some of those cultures use it as an excuse & a way of everyday life. Racism basically stays alive to support whatever ludicrous negative actions are claimed against any particular culture in today's society. Many can read between the lines and thank God today's new generation is getting past all of this drama & learning to live, work and play together. Be Americans united first because if our country is ever attacked, many can bet they won't be racial profiling that's for sure. My opinion, what's yours?

"Broken Record" is right.....Nobody's even going to pretend that racism doesn't exist, but there's at least as many minorities screaming "racism!" as anyone else who doesn't.....

Thais, blacks, Mexicans, Muslims, whatever.....Get a speeding ticket, it's RACISM.....Rob a store, and get arrested, it's RACISM....doesn't matter if your picture was all over the security cameras, beating and then shooting the clerk, it's RACISM.....

Whatever happened to AMERICANS? - If you're Mexican American, and don't like it, go back to Mexico...If you're African American (whatever the Hell that means) go back to Africa...same for all the "oppressed" Muslims, Jews, and Irishmen, Canadians, and Philipinos.....

We won't have many people in this Country if we ALL just took our little red balls and went home, now, would we?

We are all here...in AMERICA...so shut up, get a job, pay your bills, mind your ODB, and don't worry about who your neighbor prays to on whatever Holy Day he has.....

You'll sleep alot better without all the unecessary stress.....

I don't waste alot of my time debating race, religion, politics, etc., but DW45, I gotta agree with your statements, 100%!!

Ditto sirwilliam and DW45; It is a shame that all people can't just move on with their lives & live together like we were meant to. Future generations will look back at this time in our American history & wonder how we ever survived it.

Pope stirs the pot I guess we will have to add him to list of racist!
I noticed FOX8 left out these comments when they reported on the Popes visit.

WASHINGTON - Pope Benedict XVI praised America as a land of opportunity and hope Thursday as he celebrated the first public Mass of his U.S. pilgrimage, but he lamented that the country's promise fell short for American Indians and blacks.
"Americans have always been a people of hope," he said during his homily. "Your ancestors came to this country with the experience of finding new freedom and opportunity.
"To be sure, this promise was not experienced by all the inhabitants of this land; one thinks of the injustices endured by the native American peoples and by those brought here forcibly from Africa as slaves."

The Pope is right.....if we're gonna start pointing fingers, it's gonna be a long, long trail.....

The "people of Hope" was kinda encouraging, though...be nice if folks proved Him right -

Axekick-Are the Natives & Blacks all Americans too? How does any of those transgressions apply in today's society, just for sake of argument? I believe the Pope hasn't experienced enough of American lifestyles to make that type of judgement. His point is valid but to heal not to hurt.

car you may want to ask the Pope that question I just found it interesting that Neil McNeil didn't touch on all the Pope had to say about America being a land of hope and opportunity. Well maybe you don't have to ask the Pope how he feels since you have already answered your question by saying the Popes words were meant to heal and not hurt. If the Pope comes to Detroit maybe the two of you can get together and he can heal your heat towards the Mayor and others whom you say run the city after all the Pope has God on his side so you know he has healing powers, have a good one!

Good point Axekick; Many may be judged while they are living here on Earth but God does indeed have the final say when their time comes. Hope you have a great weekend too!

Sorry, car, I mis-aimed...left you 2 on your latest post....nothing serious....

Wonder if the Pope HAD came to the Motor City, would Ted Nugent have asked to shoot his hat with a bow and arrow, like he does his Guitars?.....

Probably!

Hope you're well!

Would have been great to see 4 sure!! LOL. Someone needs to stand up to those that use racism to exploit & profit from others, on all sides. For some, it seems like everyday life & they seem to rely more on the past & a sterotypical point of view rather than seeing how people really interact when not pressured by race or other preferences. Today's children seem to have the right idea in a wild sort of way that living, working & playing together is the way it was meant to be. Future societies will look back at this time & wonder how America ever survived it.

Someone blogging locally down here was discussing that the other day,and somebody returned with "I have to make my living TODAY, not in the past"...Guess that sums it up as well as anything....
