ScienceDaily (July 17, 2008) — Research by a Valparaiso University geography professor and his students on the creation of Kankakee Sand Islands of Northwest Indiana is lending support to evidence that the first humans to settle the Americas came from Europe, a discovery that overturns decades of classroom lessons that nomadic tribes from Asia crossed a Bering Strait land-ice bridge. Valparaiso is a member of the Council on Undergraduate Research...

Yet [this new research] also supports research showing that North American Clovis points – a particular type of arrowhead that represents the oldest manmade object on the continent –identically match arrowheads found in Europe and made by humans at approximately the same time. And just within the last year, new research has provided strong evidence that a large meteorite struck the ice sheet covering North American and melted much of the ice shortly before the formation of the Kankakee Sand Islands [IN].

“Our research at Valparaiso supports this other recent research because it indicates there wasn’t a massive ice sheet covering North America that would have allowed tribes to cross over from Asia via a Bering Strait land-ice bridge,” Dr. Janke said.

Hey, bleechers....

So, 11,000 years ago, CLOVIS points ended up in Indiana, of all places....Taking the Ice Shelf into account (simply as a time reference), that's about right for the SD points (BUNCH of 'em)...
Carried from the North? On the Glacier? - People LIVED there then...

Coming from any European source, they would have almost certainly been river-borne (the Hudson, Great Lakes, Mississippi).....all the significant finds in any number are within "living distance" to moving water, where, of course, every Colony, town, or Civilization was centered around....

What we think of as UK proper was relatively warm weather....The Germans, Scandinavians (like moi) were somewhat accustomed to the Cold, and were certainly accomplished seafarers...

Only scenario that deviates is the Clovis points found in PENNSYLVANIA mountains, though they would have not hesitated to follow the game to the Mountains for food - might have even reminded them of home!...PA's got some killer Mountain ranges!

Or they could have simply lost a few battles, had their tools and weapons stolen, by the Natives....

COOL!....Thanx, I was bored senseless - will read more afterwhile while the floors are drying!

Wife sends her regards, dedicated about 12 pounds of cold pasta salad to you the other night...Very Good!

Once again vanity rears it's ugly head during WW2 European soldiers shot the nose of the sphinx because it was not an European shaped nose the origin of man is found in Africa simple as that all others come from the original I know it hurts your vain opinion of yourselves. You will need to go back over 14,000 years to find the original native Americans and they were of Asian decent.

What the Hell did they shoot up the Sphinx for?

That did nobody any good....

I recall the Nazis shooting & strafing everything on their retreat, from several different sources....

Plus, trust me, I'm not qualified to be VERY vain!

DW45, the entire article is available at Science Daily... I just found it interesting. I am not convinced of it. I was born near Philadelphia after my family legally came to these shores. I am as American as anyone.

The arguments against Columbus are racist at their core. There exists a hatred of Europeans by people who would never argue that illegal Mexicans in 2008 should be deported while simultaneously calling Europeans "newcomers" even though they've been here for over 500 years (going back to the Vikings in N. America).

As for the sphinx, the English didn't do it (they were in Egypt before the Germans), the Nazis did it. It was (partly) a result of the Nazis' Darwinian view of the races (Shocker: thousands of Europeans and Americans died to stop them).

Some of us have moved beyond evaluating everything by race and would rather judge a man by the content of his character. As one man put it:

“America is quietly getting past race despite the best efforts of the Soul Patrol to pretend otherwise.” - John McWhoter

So I guess they have taken Germany out of Europe since I didn’t say the British I just said European soldiers. The whole illegal Mexican saga is racist at its core simple as that and you idiots have not realized that the illegals bring more to the table economically wise then they take that is why our government has not done anything about it well I take back because our economy is getting so bad many are heading back to Mexico. When Columbus landed here people were here so he didn’t discover a damnn thing your whole point of this article stems from your racist nature which you have no control over because it is YOUR nature. Yeah thisd country is getting past race because the white birth rate is at zero growth and the hispanics are making you a minority in the country you stole!

If I sold everything for cash, I could move to Mexico right now, and live passably until my demise from sunshine, Tequila, and fresh seafood...

Is THAT irony, or what?

Illegals bring more to the table? lol they pay no taxes yet somehow they get medical care at tax payers expense and cost the govt. BILLIONS of dollars yearly. Secondly Native Americans were not Asian LOL. So when the Illegals pay taxes AND their medical bills you can say they bring something to the table otherwise they do not.
Why don't you move to Mexico Illegally and see if they'll pay your medical bills, they won't so why should we?

Boats float the other way too... and anyone is free to board one anytime he wishes to leave.

The point concerning Germany and Europe (apart from being misguided and missing the point) is racist in nature. The separation of the English from the Germans was to highlight that it was not "European culture" that destroyed the Sphinx it was "Nazi (Darwinist) culture."

If you want to argue that all Europeans are the same (racist at its core) then you'll have to explain the European and American lives lost to defeat the Nazis.

Using your analysis we'd get: Europeans were so evil, they shot off the nose of the Sphinx... they then defeated themselves. (Here's a secret ... shhh... the Mexicans are descended from Europeans too.)

Could you give us an economic analysis as to why the US economy is so horrible (apparently it is worse than Mexico's, right?)?

Also explain how Obama's tax hikes will spur economic growth.

You make blanket statements about "Europeans;" you're angered blindly by a scientific study that suggests that a long time ago Europeans may have been here first; you attack and condemn an entire continent and declare its people evil because the acts of a few soldiers...

That's a fairly good representation of what a "racist" is.

where do the Russians (Mongols ?) fit into all this?

I always thought they went farther East and South than believed (not just 'cross the crick to Alaska)...

Why not? - They had a first-class organized Navy for Centuries before Spain...but WHERE did they go? Where's the "evidence"?

bleechers your answer for all white racist wickedness is "you attack and condemn an entire continent and declare its people evil because the acts of a few". How many few examples will it take?
Here's a new one for you the superintendent job in Guilford County two Candidates make it to the final cut. Shirley Prince PhD. and Maurice “Mo” Green that is how News2 presented the story not Attorney. Maurice Green. But Mo.

What's your take on the farmers' situation in Zimbabwe? Would you like to offer another blanket condemnation?

I'll put that up against your "superintendent problem" if you merely want to make judgments based on anecdotal information.

The US is one of the least racist places on the planet. 99.999% of Africans would trade places with you in a heartbeat. The world does its best to flock to Europe and the US. As McWhorter wrote, you will never and can never accept that racism in the US is at best a nuisance.

There are two reasons for that: your racist insistence that acts by individual Europeans are the result of some inherent evil within them and your desire for acceptance from other racists in your community.

Your argument hinges on the notion that Europeans are, by nature, evil. I have not made any blanket statements about anyone based on melanin content. You, however, can view no issue without judging it by the color of the skin of the people involved. You can't just see "humans."

It's a shame that we still such overt racism in our day. Tsk. Tsk.
