Last Saturday a Service Man came to our home to fix the microwave. It needed parts so the man had to come back, said he would come back today..Saturday. Then it was said that he would be here friday...No problem, a bit annoyed that they rescheduled without asking but whatever. However, this did not happen! No one showed up even though THE service people changed the schedule. This morning my parents (their microwave) called the costomer service department to ask what was going on. What was supposed to be a call to find out when the guy would be here turned into a shocking conversation!

First, my dad talks to customer service....they tell him that someone came to the house yesterday (friday) and no one was here. That was not true, our home has several people living here not to mention 6 dogs that would bark up a storm if someone came to the door! Besides the fact that at the TIME THEY TOLD US he was here, there were at least 4 people in the house....including myself and my dad who was waiting for him!!!!!! Well after revealing this to the lady on the phone she "checks" her information or something (I was not the one on the phone so not sure exactly) and then says that he called around 3:30 and had no answer and didn't stop by....again not correct, no one called and with caller ID we were able to double check even though we KNOW that dad would have answered the phone for them or called back should a message have been left...nada...it was a lie. But who lied? From what I heard the service man had filled the log ...which would mean he lied, but then why the changes told to us by the lady on the phone? URGh....doesn't matter, they tell us that it was rescheduled for the 28th and that they don't do services on weekends....ok one, how is that when the guy was out here last weekend? on saturday?? When questioned this the lady answered that in the log it says he was here on Friday! So obviously the service man lied on the log...because he wasn't supposed to be here on a saturday?Probably. Two: why would you reschedule a time without consulting the customer? So far we have been lied to  and had someone make an appointment without knowing if the customer  would be here, Let alone asking us !!!!

So after going through that my mom takes over the phone...dad isn't getting through with being nice so mom does her thing. She started off nice enough, it wasn't that she was trying to be mean just wanted information and to get the friggin' microwave fixed when it was said it would be fixed! If nothing else to have them correct and admit the  "mistake" THEY made. Well the lady pretty much repeats the incorrect information to my mother a few times, without so much as listening to my mother, so my mother asks for a supervisor...not an unreasonable request considering what was being said and what wasn't being done. The lady side steps giving her the supervisor with every excuse there is!!! Even saying that he was in a meeting to saying he wasn't even there!!! Another lie. This goes on for about a half hour...mom kept repeating that she wanted a supervisor and the lady kept making excuses not to send her through including saying that he would give my mom the same info she had....mom said she didn't care and wanted to talk to the supervisor and the lady would say the next line! At this point the excuses are runmning through the cycle over and over..."he's not here" "he's in a meeting" "he'll tell you the same thing I am" yadda yadda yadda.....

I asked mom if the lady was a robot ( lol) because she was just repeating the same lies over and over again to avoid putting a supervisor on the phone....a simple request!!! So mom says something to me and the lady then puts her on hold supposedly trying to get the supervisor at last......That is where I left the room. As of right now it sounds like mom and dad are taking the microwave out to take it back under warenty (don't know for sure though, I am just hearing a lot of noise and in this house that could be anything!) and get another...and I hope my parents complain to Sears about their service people. I assume Sears uses another company  for the repairs but if this is the "service" and "customer service" that company  provides I think Sears should know about it and if they have gotten enough complaints maybe they will DO something!

Anyway...I will be back later to update when I find out where this is going. I am just so dumbfounded that this is happening! Why is it so hard to put a supervisor on the phone? No matter what they are going to say they should still be put on. My mom worked in a company that took service calls all the time so she knows how it works...but  also knows that it is a load or BLEEP that no one above this lady was there to take the call! Don't get me wrong, i believe in being nice to the customer service people...but this was worthy of some harsh talking. My dad was nice and got nowhere, my mom started nice then only raised her voice a bit in frustration and repeatd herself.... but the lady wanted to play games. So if you plan to call Sears' service people , be prepared. Who knows what they will throw at you.

Sears has always done me wonderfully servicewise, but that was me and way back when...I trained on a "service vehicle" years
ago, though (not Sears), and it goes like this...the dispatch/ controller lied to you because she was lied to...the delivery guys/ gals spent too much time at Arby's, or the steakhouse, whatever, and "It's 17 miles over there anyway, in 3 o'clock traffic, so just put it down as a "no show"...I gotta pick up the kids at 5 anyhow..." In defense of them (probably wrong address), I have ridden many miles for many "no shows" - (I said I'd be home by 4...they could have waited 20 minutes!) - the dispatch shouldn't have stonewalled you - she should have immediately rescheduled you for a 10% discount at your time of choosing.......for what it's worth, asking for the "supervisor" isn't going to help, he's probably the one driving the truck.....there is usually a regional/ national phone # with larger companies for disputes, but make sure your facts are right before you play that card -

Good Luck.......

I had purchased a mattress and bed frame from The Mattress Firm a week and half ago. They were supposed to deliver and set it up last Saturday. I was happy to know they did do weekend delivery.
Three guys showed up to deliver the items 20 minutes before the deadline for delivery. They came rushing in, dragging the items with them. they unwrapped the head and footboard outside. They threw my old mattress and box springs in the yard.
Within 10 minutes, they were done! I was waiting to leave to run errands, so when they finished, I left. I returned about 6 hours later to my dismay..
I use the driveway in the back of the house. I rode past the front of my house to get home and saw styrofoam all over the front yard. I guess from where they unwrapped the headboard and footboard. I got upstairs to the bedroom and was dumbfounded. The room, including the wooden parts of the bed were covered in styrofoam. Plastic was laying everywhere. I was admiring the bed when I noticed the wooden rail had a chunk out of it and the other rail was split. Then I realized the bed was not sitting square. The headboard and footboard did not line up. No wonder!
I called and they set up a time to bring me a new set of rails. The next guys came up to the door. They laid out a red carpet on my porch. The guy asked me if he could wear his shoes in my house. He asked if they could prop the door or did I have any pets that may escape. They took 20 minutes taking apart and putting back together the bed. When they left..no mess. I went in the room..totally surprised. A thank you note was on the bed with 2

mints. I am not sure what happened between last night and last week, but it was like night and day. I felt like I was in the twighlight zone.
Is it because of the complaint? Was the guys last week just new hires? How can service be so different from one day to the next ...and the same company? Regardless of what the difference is, they should definately give the two boys a raise that do their job and fire the ones who slacked and made The Mattress Firm look horrible, on a first impression.

dear ladyred - the one who came the 2nd time was the bossman, undoubtably a subcontractor, who truly did not want to LOSE his contract -

Good for you.... he probably had a good, long talk with his "hired help" - Glad it's OK now....

Thanks DW...I am glad as well. You know, one of the hardest lessons I had to teach my son was how to stand up for himself. He was/is so afraid to ask people questions, confront a business person because he is afraid nothing will change. He has such a hard time doing that. I told him, and proved to him many times, that if you let someone walk on you, then you will be become their doormat. I have handled several situations for him, when people ripped him off, and showed him that if you are assertive (not neccessarily an ass) that people will not only respect you, but will be much less likely to take advantage of you.
Know what you are signing. Know what it is that you expect and make sure they know the same. Read the fine print. Research..research...research before making a decision on a purchase. There is nothing wrong with getting the best price and the best service for your money. You CAN have both!

artbyakm, my suggestion would be the same that my Sears salesperson told me when I bought a television there; the warranty costs more than buying a new one!!! I would settle with that!

To update everyone, the microwave is finally fixed, we had to wait. But mom did talk to the supervisor who was MUCH nicer and answered questions without being a smart aleck. Matter settled. However I still feel that the lady was wrong to act the way she did from the get go, or deny anyone to talk to a supervisor. Ladyred, you are so right...you have to be assertive, polite, but assertive to get somewhere with sales people or they will walk on you!
Thank you everyone for all the comments! Hopefully we will not have to go through this again and get that good service we know is out there somewhere!

I am a 25 year old stay at home mom of one very smart and active 4 year old. I have been married for 3+ years and together for 6+ years. I have lived in NC for the past 9 years. I met my husband here in NC after we both spent most of our lives in Ohio an hour apart (I 16 years in the same town and house him for 14 years I think). After spending 3 days together we both knew that we would be together for the rest of our lives... though it took us 3 years and a baby to get married! (we did not get married because of our son as a side note) My biggest dream is to become a well known artist and make a living at it. I do all kinds of art including plaster carvings, painting, scratch board, and sketching. I did not go to school for my art, I have been at it since before i can remember. I am self tought. I also do some crafts such as cross stitch and croche'. I have done work painting sets and making posters for The Staind Glass Playhouse in Winston Salem as well as some set painting in Lewisville for the West Side Civic Theatre. My husband, who is an actor, is the reason I got associated with these theatres to begin with. It is alot of work and fun but I am always glad to see winter months ahead and not just because I like the cold weather! Recently my Art activity has increased and things are looking good in the way of possibly making a living at this...slow going but you got to start somewhere! One day you may just know my name and face without having ever met me! Heck you may even buy a painting or ask me for a portrait of your family members!
