Had an absolute wonderful time last night at fireworks! We went to Tangelwood to watch them, it is about a 45 minute drive but it is worth it. I am a huge fireworks fan and tend to be a bit picky when it comes to were I want to watch them, when I moved from Ohio I lost a really awesome place to see them....one that was pretty much a grand finale all the way thru it and the finale itself was so spectacular!! The whole way thru they would play patriotic music ...it was just great. The first few years I lived here I could not find anywhere that could even compare...not that they were bad or anything just not the same or as exciting! I could not expect that anyway, we are talking a place that is about 8 hours away! So I kept looking and eventually my sister and I found Tangelwood, I knew at once that it was the place! The fireworks were really good, though still not as grand as the one in Ohio but they were still worth seeing and enough that I deemed that the place I would go to see them.  Well do to circumstances we skipped a year, went and then skipped 2 years...though one of those years we happened to be in Ohio and got to see my favorite fireworks display of all =) Of course that same year we went to where my husband used to live in Ohio and seen the fireworks there as well and ....they were a little closer then I was comfortable with! In fact we ended up coming home with a HUGE chunk of  firework that had nearly hit us! It was scarey and took away from the fun of it all...I don't like watching hot ash from fireworks fall to the ground in front of me STILL HOT! Anyway The next year we went to yet another place for fireworks, they were ok but there were other more personal reasons to go along with the OK fireworks that i was not satisfied. Then we come back to this year, happy to be back at Tangelwood once again with my family.

With 3 kids coming along we had to leave late to get there, I was not real happy with that idea but I understood why my sister wanted to spend as little time there as possible....though it turned out to be great and actually we could have gone sooner and been just as happy! The biggest fear was the kids getting bored and fighting with one another, but there were tons of other kids there and our kids ran and ran, they had such a blast!!!! We had our sparkelers and other minimal fireworks (basically a more elaborate sparkeler)  and a mini picnic. We did get the treat of some people with better fireworks setting them off next to us, I have some pics of that and the kids with sparkelers that I may put up on my photos once I edit them to look better. Anyway It was an all around good time and I was happy with the fireworks. We did end up waiting to get out of there after for around an hour and a half or so, but thanks to our dvd player the wait wasn't bad. The kids were out by the time we got home at almost 12am and we were all VERY ready to go to bed!

Hope everyone had a fantastic Fourth!

We went to the Hi-Toms game in Thomasville. We watched the Hi-Toms win, yeah, and then watched fireworks. They played patriotic music while the fireworks were going off. Before the game, they had children bring American flags out on the field and then we all sang "God Bless America" and had a moment of silence for our military. It was a great night of fun on the 4th.

Very good "fireworks and sparkler" pictures!!! Yes, I get "confused" some years and was really grateful that Fox8 printed where and when the "Fireworks displays" and "Festivals" would be held. I get tired of the people who say, "Well, there weren't any 'fireworks' on the original 4th of July. I beg to differ. No, they didn't have the "controlled beauty" that we get to see each year, but the "fireworks" that they saw were REAL, ie: cannon fire, musket fire, etc. I hope that everyone had a Happy and Safe 4th of July, and could keep in mind the "reason for the celebration".

Thanks for sharing your stories. My advise is to never go to Greensboro (Grimsley High School) to see fireworks. A couple of years ago they only lasted for 15 minutes. This year they lasted approximately 20 minutes. They get sorrier each year. Don't even talk about the disorganized traffic pattern and the mass confusion leaving. I had the pleasure of going to Burlington City Park on the 3rd and the fireworks were great. Lasted 30 minutes. Got to hear some great music also. Again, do not advise coming to Greensboro for fireworks.

I can't say that they compare to Tanglewood, or Ohio, nor the big time July 4th events but if you want to see a good show on a fairly regular basis, check out the Kannapolis Intimidators ball games. They don't have them every home game but they do have them regularly. I have never heard anyone complain about the shows and have only heard positive comments. The show normally lasts about ten minutes so it is not the big forth of July extravaganza but it is a good show.

The absolute best fireworks show I have ever seen was at the Boy Scout jamboree at Fort A.P. Hill, VA. Was there for five jamborees and can say without question it was something to behold. Shooting from three locations and if you can visualize whatever Greensboro or Burlington had times three locations going at the same time and the finale about 15 minutes with all three locations shooting several times the amount got here. Could feel the ground shake and the noise almost made you want to over your ears.

I am a 25 year old stay at home mom of one very smart and active 4 year old. I have been married for 3+ years and together for 6+ years. I have lived in NC for the past 9 years. I met my husband here in NC after we both spent most of our lives in Ohio an hour apart (I 16 years in the same town and house him for 14 years I think). After spending 3 days together we both knew that we would be together for the rest of our lives... though it took us 3 years and a baby to get married! (we did not get married because of our son as a side note) My biggest dream is to become a well known artist and make a living at it. I do all kinds of art including plaster carvings, painting, scratch board, and sketching. I did not go to school for my art, I have been at it since before i can remember. I am self tought. I also do some crafts such as cross stitch and croche'. I have done work painting sets and making posters for The Staind Glass Playhouse in Winston Salem as well as some set painting in Lewisville for the West Side Civic Theatre. My husband, who is an actor, is the reason I got associated with these theatres to begin with. It is alot of work and fun but I am always glad to see winter months ahead and not just because I like the cold weather! Recently my Art activity has increased and things are looking good in the way of possibly making a living at this...slow going but you got to start somewhere! One day you may just know my name and face without having ever met me! Heck you may even buy a painting or ask me for a portrait of your family members!
