Wow!  What a storm some had on Sunday, April 20.  Temperatures were in the mid to upper 60s and then a storm.   First it was rain and then marble sized hail began to fall and kept falling for some.  One of the hardest hit areas was North High Point.

This picture was sent to us by Chuck Potts.  He said he was near the intersection of High Point Road and the 311 Bypass.   By the time the hail stopped falling, the temperature fell to near 40°

The hail was significant due to a cold upper low pressure system tracking over our area.  This lowered freezing levels to below 6000 feet and made hail more likely.

More pictures from our viewers......

The 3 below were sent to us by Darrin Jordan these were from the Willard Dairy and US 68 area.

Thank you to all that sent your pictures in.  Remember to send you weather pictures to photos@wghp.com when you take great weather pictures..

Wow. Impressive. When the first heavy rain began here in Burlington, I watched the temp fall from 67 to 53 in about 30 minutes, but that is even more extreme. Can't say I've ever seen that much hail personally. I'm guessing that's about 2" or more?

That is by far the most impressive picture I've seen from the storm. We are incredibly lucky to see such an amazing severe weather event in our area without any major reports of damage or injury to anyone.

This continues to impress me. Many of these photographs are from locations less than 3-4 miles from my house. During this storm, I received nothing but a brief minute or two of light rainfall. That's it.

I was sitting outside during this time taking a break at work. It started to hail, but I am so thankful it wasn't like that. There would have been nothing left of my umbrella!

These blogs are a great addition for someone who likes to talk. During the weather reports, I have a device in my ear called an IFB. The producers give us a countdown and tell us when we must stop talking. You should hear them yell wrap in your ear. ? Through my blog, I am able to give you a little more and I hope you will share in these stories with me.
