Since I was a little kid, watching the ACC tourney has always been a fun time.  Even my school teachers brought in TVs and we would watch the games in class.  We were supporting our favorite teams and in my school we were rooting for Phil Ford in the 70s, a Rocky Mount Sr. High star.   Then a couple of years later, we were rooting for Buck Williams of Maryland, another Rocky Mount Sr. High star.   Of course, my primary loyalties were to the Red and White of NCSU.

NCSU may not be playing this year on Friday (fingers crossed that they do), but I will still be taking a vacation day and I plan to watch the nation's best basketball conference play 8 plus hours of basketball and eat wings and chips all day.  Whether my team makes it to Friday or not, to me it is always a great tournament and a tradition that I look forward to every year.

Who knows, maybe we can string together 4 Ws.

I used to lay out of school on the opening day of the ACC Tournament. I would wake up on Friday morning and tell my mom or my grandparents,(which ever place I stayed at on Thursday night), that I was sick. They would tell me to go on back to bed.

When the games started at noon, I would get a pillow and lay down on the couch. If I was at my grandparents come game time, my grandparents would then realize that I wasn't sick. If I stayed at my house with my mom, I would be well until she got home from work that afternoon, then I would start acting sick again!!

Our teachers would bring TVs to clas for two events. The opening day of the ACC Tourney and NASA liftoffs...pre-shuttle days! LOL! If there were ACC teams playing in the NCAA Tourney...and there usually were, then they would shlep back in with TVs again! In high school I only went half a day and was off to go to work in the afternoons being a part of DECA. You better believe I was unable to work the ACC Tourney days. I usually had the time off in advance by working it out with my boss. In later years I would take vacation days or manage to be "sick" during Tourney time! Thank goodness for "sick days"!! By the way...GO HEELS!!!

I bring a little emergency battery-operated hand-held TV to work, but one thing I've been concerned about is this may be the last year I can do that. Those TVs won't pick up digital signals when the switch occurs next year. Guess I'll have to rely on radio or something after that.

I went to high school in Greenville SC. Even there they would bring tvs in for the games.

Now I work from home so it will be on.

These blogs are a great addition for someone who likes to talk. During the weather reports, I have a device in my ear called an IFB. The producers give us a countdown and tell us when we must stop talking. You should hear them yell wrap in your ear. ? Through my blog, I am able to give you a little more and I hope you will share in these stories with me.
