Perhaps this question is beyond your expertise Van, but here goes. When we have torrential rains from storms, or just plain ole rain,  how much water is retained locally in lakes, rivers, reservoirs, etc., to be used for public consumption?

Not in gallons of course, but in inches. Example: if we get 2 inches of rain, do we know how much stays here, rather than flow downstream? 1"  1/2?

Thanks if you can shed any light on this query.

PEACE

Will

I just wanted to get this off my chest. I recently puchased a Garmin StreetPilot C330 GPS system at WallyWorld. The purchase price was $179.00. I have no clue what orginal price was. I get it home and set it up, and lo and behold, it is using a set of maps from 2006. I currently deliver for Fed Ex and find the GPS very useful. In most cases, it has the addresses I need. Not always, but most of the time. In either situation, if I purchase anything with software or software based information, I expect current information.

I have contacted Garmin by email 3 times now, and they claim that the price was marked down because the Software based Information is not current. I argued that any information regarding the prices being lowered for out dated information should have beem marked down on the outside of the box.

I have sent my most recent reply back tonight.  Am I wrong to expect a product to be current, or marked as such, where a buyer can see it?

I was thinking that whoever got the job of driving the 8 car in 2008, will have his hands full. Not because of bad equipment or lack of driver skills, but he will be replacing nascars most popular driver. It is never easy replacing an icon in any sport, much less the most popular one in that sport. I am sure the DEI management and gargage crews did happy dances after they aquired Ginn Racing.

I have always been a Kyle Petty and Mark Martin fan. When I heard that Mark Martin would be in the 8 car for, I think it was 26 races in '08, I almost flipped out. I can't think of a better replacement for Jr than Mark Martin. I wish Mark and Aric Almirola the best in 2008. I can't wait until 2008 to rool on the 8 car.

I have not seen Cindy Farmer on tv lately. My wife mentioned that she hasn't seen her in some time now. I hope that all is well with her and her family, and that she is just on "assignment".  Will someone clue the two of us in as to where Cindy is?

Thanks and Peace

I saw that nascar will not punish Harvick nor Montoya for the discussion and exercise break they took on the track Sunday at the Glen.  (Insert smiling or grinning face here) Apparently their is a difference in the word Harvick used on camera Sunday, and the one Jr used that cost him points and money.  There HAS to be a nascar sanctioned "list" of what you can and cannot say during an interview.  Harvick must have a copy of it, and needs to send Jr a copy.

While I am here, I again would like to say this....Robbie Gordon. Love him or hate him, you have to give the devil his due. The man is doing better than any one car team in recent memory.  I read at Nascar.com where two of the writers for that site, could see how Robbie could have been so upset, and what he was trying to do. Finish the race under protest, and argue the point later. Where he went wrong is not obeying the black flag and his actions after the race. Doing do nuts and acting as though he had won. I am not saying his methods nor him manners are good...I am just saying that the man has put together a good team, that gives him a good car to race each week.

The more I think about Jr's move to Hendricks, the less I think of Jr.  I know...I know.....have I lost my mind, you are thinking. The way I see it is this.....Jr left a struggling DEI  to go to a winning program. I can't blame a guy for bettering himself.  Everyone is saying that Dale Sr would agree with what Jr did.  If I was Sr and Jr left a program I started and sweated over, I wouldn't care the reason. I would be greatly disappointed.  OK..DEI is struggling. Is that a reason to leave? Jr says he sees no way that DEI is trying to improve the situation there, is that a reason to leave?  I guess JR thought it was. Maybe I am looking at it all wrong, but I think JR should have stayed at DEI, and fought tooth and nail to get back to winning ways...and to get his fair share of DEI. No matter how hard I try, I just can't see JR the way I saw him while at DEI.

OK..Let the flaming begin.   :)

I picked the title of this blog with teeth firmly planted in cheek. Am I the only the only person that realizes there is another Gordon in nascar? ( sorry about not putting nascar in all caps but I dont think they deserve that, as of late) I hardly ever ,if ever, hear anyone talk about the job Robbie Gordon is doing now. Every once in a while a tv commentator will mention how he is doing. Then its move on to a driver will more fans or a bigger sponsor. I only wish Robbie could have held on to his RCR ride. Maybe a good thing he didnt.  How many other one-car teams are 24th in points? Not many I would wager.  I just think when you do a good job ,(and as a one-car team no one can say he isnt doing a good job) you deserve a little recognition.

OK   thats out of my system now  :)

PEACE to you all

I know that this will never happen, but I would LOVE to see NASCAR get back to the basics. "Run what  ya brung" . NASCAR has made concessions to each and every manufacturer trying to keep a level playing field. Trying to keep the races closer and more exciting. I understand that. Beyond the frames and decals, these cars are certainly not what we drive on the streets today.  NASCAR, get back to the basics and let the teams experiment and find ways of going faster. Thats what they did 50 years ago.  If the Dodges are harder to race because they have a bubble nose....choose another car to drive. Don't  just make concessions to Dodge { I am using Dodge here as an example only).

The thing that made NASCAR what it is today is as far removed from today's NASCAR, as Kyle Busch is from good manners.

I have often wondered why NASCAR starts the fastest 43 cars. Why not 42? 44?   I would like to think it is paying homage to The King. But we all know that isn't the reason.  Anyone know the real reason?

If NASCAR has had a bigger cry baby than Kyle Busch, I dont know who or when it was. Other than his older brother Kurt, that is. During the interview after he got taken out of the all star race, ( By Mile Wide Kyle ) Kurt did a very good job of not blowing off at being taken out of the race. He has certainly matured since he came into NASCAR.

Kyles crew chief is not helping his cause any good by covering for him when he storms away and does not offer his views on what happened.
