As my member name implies, this is just me but I am totally confused with the Medical Boards decision not to allow a person in the medical profession to assit in carrying out a legally binding sentence.  By statute, the death penalty is allowed under certain circumstances in this state.  As I understand it, the only time a person can be sentenced to death is when they have been convicted of murder,  and then, there must be other circumstances to accompany that crime.     This is not a case of whether the death penalty is morally right or wrong, this is simply, a doctor cannot participate in taking the life of a convicted felon.    My confusion is this,  this same board that says that it is wrong for a doctor to assist in taking the life of a person that has brutally raped and killed and innocent person, says that is ok for that same doctor to go to his office and take the life of an innocent unborn child.  As the comedian says, "Here's your sign."

Kenneth Boyd murdered his estranged wife Julie and his father-in-law, Dillard Curry in Rockingham County, N.C. Julie and her children were living with Curry. Boyd entered the home and shot them both in the presence of his own children, then ages 13, 12 and 10.We must think about the lives that all 1,895 murdered victims affected. Every one had families, friends, relatives, co-workers, neighbors. The combined loss is incalculable. There is no end to horror stories like these. Jurors, who represent us, hear about horrific crimes and make tough but appropriate decisions. With a yearly average of 15,000 murders, the fact that we are reaching 1,000 executions in only a little more than 30 years is proof that capital punishment has been reserved for the worst of the worst. The attention given to the execution of 1,000 murderers is repugnant, especially when the loudest voices think the death of a convicted murderer is a tragedy. Yet the deaths and suffering of countless victims is only an easily-ignored statistic. As far as I am concerned, public executions should be brought back into use. As far as using a doctor, hang a few from the gallows. The bleeding heart liberal doctors will put them to sleep humanely when they witness the “cruel and unusual punishment” that will be carried out. The liberals are making justice a farce in this country. Save the state some money, kill the first ten on death row tomorrow. That would be a good start.

How about making all Doctors that perform abortions be the Doctors that will monitor the executions. They can kill a unborn child then they can kill a convicted murder.

I have been married for 30 years and have two sons of my own as well as a step son and two step daughters. We have several grandchildren and each one is a light in our lives. I am retired from a state agency (early retirement) and currently drive a truck for a local company. In my spare time, I enjoy doing some woodworking in the small shop that I have at my home and my children and grandchildren have all benefited from my hobby.
