I have a voting suggestion. This election vote for somebody that has never held public office.Let's get the ones in office out and let somebody else feed them for a while.Somebody else can listen to their lies, broken promises, and steady stream of dribble. We've had Dems and Rep running Congress and the White House both and look at what we've ended up with.So I'm saying let's get some people in with no experience and let them fumble around with 4 years. And then let's do something new......are you ready for this ? If they don't get the job done after 4 years,we'll vote them out and not keep sending the same idiots right back in.

Makes you think, JIMBOB2. I wonder, how close are we to having America's answer to a dynasty? If you think about it, for the past 20 years, two families have run the country. If Clinton wins in 08, it will be 24, maybe 28 years of the same 2 families running the country. Are we a democracy, or a dynocracy (whatever that is...)

Both of the "families" have done good things but look at where we are and where we're headed. Both partys had a chance and blew it badly.

Problem is, where does that leave the average voter optionwise?

Down the creek without a paddle,DW45,and the canoe was made in China and paid for on Master Card.We have no unity in the country and can do nothing. As I said before we'll have to adjust. Now any job is a good job if you have work, gas prices make no difference as long as we can still buy it,high taxes mean nothing as long as I can hold on to what I've got,insurance/healthcare if you don't have it look forward to a shorter life, accept the fact the schools are packed and will be,and criminals walk the street that should be in jail.Adjust to it.

Life can still be good,it's just not like it was a very few years ago.Hang on to your job, watch your money and spend wisely, get something that's good on gas,and keep your friends. No matter who gets in be prepared for higher taxes on everything, everywhere that will be their temporary fix and of course better times will be promised........

I'm still working, lucky compared to some.....I can't see why all these folks even bothering to believe "whoever" is going to reduce gas prices when they get "in office"...realistically, what can they do about it?....I wish they could...

I and my family are looking at this gas situation carefully. Now we have 3 vehicles and 3 adults in our home drive to 3 different jobs, at three different times to begin & end the day. So no carpooling for us. So, my idea is this: I quit work, stay home working in my flowers, playing with my dog, watching movies I have missed over 40 years of working and get fatter than I am now. Doesn't solve the gas problem really, but I get what I want. Sounds pretty good to me.

patcancook....Do it....sell the car,if you live in HP that will save 3 taxes, cancel the insurance(save again)won't be buying gas(save again)or maintenance(save more)...just joking but it does sound good.

Ah, but I have a plan. If more and more women would decide to sell that SUV or MiniVan and stay home, look at the jobs that would open up for others......I wouldn't have to have nails done, haircuts, never wear make-up again (my dog couldn't care less if I have it on) not eating out at lunch, just go downstairs & make a sandwich, kick back and watch Oprah! Now if thousands of women do this, look at all the cars off the roads. And get this, moms would actually be home when little Johnny or Susie got home from school. They could actually have a real mom fix their snacks & (gasp") talk to them & hear all about their day at school. Oh My Gosh.........we could be families again.....I am handing in my notice this Friday..........guess I had better let my husband know too.

Yeah, pat, but the days of Ward and June Cleaver are OVER (thank God). Now, most families NEED two incomes to survive, not to mention the fact you're gonna have a hard sell to progressive, educated women telling them they should stay home and bake cookies all day. And "Empire" is the correct word, DW--we look more and more like the new Rome. And you see what happened to that empire.

VOTE FREEDOMFREE

I have an idea, I call it " vote the issues ". First, have some neutral non-partisan organization research and then draw up special ballots that are based upon a significant sampling of issues and items of concern for all Americans. Next, arrange for an election in which the political candidates and the general public all vote on the same day, using this same ballot. The difference being that the candidates voting choices will become public record not private as citizens would be. Finally, whichever candidate's issue ballot most closely matched the choice results of the voting citizens wins the election! This way, it would no longer be a personality contest or partisan parties domination.

If you want to vote on the presidential election and have your vote count, you're going to need to be an electorate of your state. The American voters do not elect the president and vice president. You'll have to be a member of the electoral college to have your vote count. Ask Al Gore about winning the popular vote in 2000 and losing the election.
