I am tired of seeing the "Vote Yes for the Kids" signs. A Yes vote is not for the kids when it comes to voting for the bonds for our schools. Consider this, a No vote is more a vote for the kids and their future and the future of an accountable school system. Vote No for the school Bonds and take back our schools. Force the Board and Guilford County School System, including the construction, design and development, maintenance, facilities, and other branch departments to act in a responsible manner in spending your money now and in the future. For as long as you give they will take. There are much better ways to improve our schools than with the unbridled spending we see now as the norm. GCSS should use existing facilities that now sit empty and unused.

GCSS underinsured Eastern Guilford… Now who pays?

How many other buildings are under insured?

New schools are constantly redesigned and laid out. Use a workable design

Hire a superintendent from inside – Someone that knows the system and the people

Stop the absurd spending

Vote No for School Bonds - Vote No for the responsible future of our schools

Maybe no one really gives a BLEEP!

Maybe when your kids are out of school and you just do not care any more.
You still pay though!

Maybe when you don't have kids you just don't care.
You still pay though!

Insanity or stupidity is defined by doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result.

Go ahead and vote yes for the school bonds. Do you really think anything is going to change?

Consider voting NO. Do it for the kids

I give a BLEEP and my question is, where is the lottery for education money going? Why do we have this ENORMOUS bond on the ballot when this shouldn't even be an issue? Somebody PLEASE explain to me how you can justify raising everybody's property taxes to pay for a school bond that is covering for bad insurance decisions by our leaders! Shouldn't the lottery money help cover this? I am very confused about it. Remember folks, it was just a couple of years ago that they hiked everyone's property values and our taxes went up considerably. Are you really going to sit still for this. I care about the kids as much as anyone else, but I just cannot justify this bond!

I am with you. By the way the school bonds are being promoted, "you are against the kids if you vote no". Many people I have talked with are asking the same question you just raised about the lottery money.

I appreciciate your thoughts on this. After watching the boob tube last night the COO for GCSS said this bond money is only half of what they actually need.

People you had better wake up because you have been told another bond is coming.

My position is that I want to see responsible school management. I know that is asking for to much, but why can not we as citizens of Guilford County expect this.

Every new school that is built is a different architectural design. That means paying an architect to design each one. Some of these schools have very high ceilings. This cost more to heat and maintain. Some examples of the lack of concern for our tax dollars by GCSS. Do you realize that some of the architects used in design are not from Guilford county? Do you realize labor chosen to do this work in many cases is not from Guilford county.

You may say it is about the money and lower construction cost. My reply would be that the GCSS is out of touch with the needs of the children and residents of Guilford County. Though they have the money to put banners in front of schools saying "if the bonds pass this school will receive so much of the money"

It is about the money for sure. Certainly it is not for the children.

This is an opportunity to just say "no" to GCSS and the old business ways.

This is a way to get their attention.

This is a way to say hire the new superintendent from within and not outside our school system. We have many capable individuals in place that are fully capable of doing the job. They know the people and know the system.
Now this is for the children.

Voting No for the School Bonds is the right thing to do for the future of the GCSS and the kids

HH...I just have a problem in general with the way government operates, period! Our pockets have been robbed so much that people are suffering and they want a school bond to pass! Here we are worrying about gas prices and keeping food on the table and they want us to pass a school bond to cover for their blunder! Puleeze! If you want more money for schools, then spend the money you do get more wisely! Stop trying to build more expensive "beautiful" schools and build practical, low maintenance, high capacity schools to start with! The beauty of a school doesn't help our children. What we need is better planning and better use of the funds available. Why aren't we rebuilding schools by using alternative energy sources like solar, etc.? Same behaviors...same result. Think a little and change behavior, you might getter more for your money and taxpayers more than willing to help!

I agree with you eh. I want our kids educated I just do not want them used. I heard last night if gas prices continue to rise at the same rate as they have over the past 2 weeks we could be looking at $7 per gallon gas by, I think they said, years end. Some might say no way and I would have said no way to $4 a gallon gas not that long ago. They were saying it is possible though. If these bonds pass I will wonder if people really know how much trouble we face. Honestly I wonder if many even understand that right now. Yep, I agree a little change would be good.
Not many real chances for people to say " I spoke and I was actually heard"
Now is truly the time to vote and be heard

Why do we need these school bonds? According to some of our gubernatorial candidates we have enough money to provide free community college tuition, surely then we ought to have enough money to provide adequately for out K-12 schools. We shouldn't have to send our elementary school kids out selling overpriced candy and our teachers shouldn't have to send home supply lists because apparently the money is there .... it's just not being used where it needs to be used.

I agree ith all of you say no to school bonds .my question is where is the lottery money and which fat cat is lining there pockets with it . CUT SALARIES OF THE SCOOL BOARD and the need for school bonds would not be so great.....

I am still at a loss as to who is responsible for the under insuring of EGHS. Someone needs be held accountable..At this point it is either the late great TG or the school Board..someone needs to do a complete review and give us the facts...
