I started to pose this question in a much more broad way, but decided to narrow the topic.

Is the Greensboro City Council acting in a responsible way by lifting Water Restrictions? To be even clearer is the Greensboro City Council adequately serving and protecting the citizens of Greensboro and their future?

Before answering this, consider the lakes are full. Is that enough to justify this decision?

Dunno about Greensboro, man, but I'll tell you about Charlotte.....

After all the Water Conservation (justified) mandated by the City Council, they decided they didn't sell enough water to pay themselves.....cost of operatioms, taxes, annexations, yearly pay increases, "flat tax", etc.......

Guess what?...Now the (City) monthly Basic Rates for water is going up.....so many percent, but it averages out to about $6.00 a month - big deal, but something surely stinks here.....

I think they have the same thing in store for us DW but we will not do anything to prevent it. I think there should be a temporary halt to any new housing or housing developments until the water issue is resolved. The local government only sees more homes and apartments as more revenues. I think that there should be adequate water reserve for such drought conditions if they should happen to reoccur. If we barely made it this last time what is it going to be like with even more users if it happens again? Instead of 72 days till we run out of water it will only be 60 days. It is much like the current energy crisis as long as petroleum is affordable and we are able to do what we want nobody much cares about conserving and looking to develop other energy sources or changing lifestyles. If as I believe super high prices and dwindling supplies of "light sweet crude" are just around the corner it will be much like the drought and suddenly everyone will be focused on what to do about it, but much like the lack of increasing the capacity of our reservoirs or continued conservation it is totally forgotten until it happens again. Unfortunately with oil the new technologies and conservation we should be doing now will be too late and take too long to make effective before it makes a serious impact on our lives.

You guys are right. What does it take to motivate people to speak up? We are certainly going to pay for this in more ways than one.
