A heads up for those who havent heard. There appears to be the possiblity of severe weather moving through the piedmont Tuesday March 4th. At this time, it appears that Strong Storms will move through the Piedmont Starting around 2pm in the west, moving to the east. Some of these storms will be capable of producing Very strong wind gusts, Torrential rain, and Isolated Tornados. Stay Tuned for further updates Here are some examples of the diffrences in watches and warnings:
A severe thunderstorm watch (SAME code: SVA; sometimes referred to as "yellow box" by meteorologists and storm chasers) is issued when weather conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms
A tornado watch (SAME code: TOA; sometimes referred to as a "red box" by meteorologists and storm chasers) is issued when weather conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms that are capable of producing tornadoes
A severe thunderstorm warning is issued when trained Skywarn spotters or a Doppler capable weather radar indicate a strong thunderstorm is producing dangerously large hail or high winds, capable of causing significant damage. It does not account for lightning or flooding. A warning must not be confused with a severe thunderstorm watch.

on a side note, the more sun we get tomorow, the more unstable the atmosphere will become, and greatly increasing our chances for severe weather and tornadoes. Be sure to stay tuned to Fox8, and FRF for the latest updates.
