10 days away? I'm not holding my breath on this "forcast event".

Wonder what The Farmer's Almanac says about it?

I have noticed that storm on the GFS for the past few days. As of the 00z Sat AM Run....it doesn't look as good. This far out, it is going to change many times.

****SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT******** F.R.F. JASON AND GERALD

After reviewing the models it appears we are still in shape for a storm. As of 03:30 01-05-08 the models are still showing significant models over us, However the rain, snow and or ice line keeps shifting back and for from west to east with each model run. As is the case with most of our winter weather events the further north and west you are the potential seems to be greater for accumulating snow and or ice at this point. The start time appears to be Sunday late morning or early afternoon. It looks right now as if parts of the area could start as rain and transition ice or snow. It is way to early to discuss specific amounts, however for the snow lovers in the piedmont THERE IS HOPE!!.

STAY TUNED TO FOX_ROOM_FORECASTERS AS WE CONTINUE TO MONITOR THIS POTENTIAL WINTER STORM OF 2008 FROM OUR HEADQUARTERS IN WINSTON SALEM NC AND TOAST, NC.

Cool blog, guys!!! Remember, though, all of the Fox8 weather peeps "forecasted" some type of winter weather event to happen around that date! I noticed that each of them were "all" a day apart on when they thought it would occur (I believe between Jan.12-17). I'm going to check this out!!!

Gerald and Jason....the 12z run looks pretty good today.

***WARNING WE SEE THIS OFTEN AND OFTEN IT CHANGES***

As of Saturday afternoon the GFS Model does show rain next Saturday changing to snow on Sunday the 13th. It is also showing a large amount of moisture.

Fingers crossed the Gerald Hicks finally gets some snow in Toast. Will this be the weekend.

BTW, you guys are doing a very good job reading the models. Two guys that could have become meteorologist.

THAT WILL RIDE UP THE COAST
THE MODELS ARE STILL BACK AND FORTH BUT AT THIS TIME WE REMAIN CONFIDENT THAT WE WILL GET SOME TYPE OF WINTRY PRECIP FROM THIS EVENT
AS TO THE AMOUNTS IT IS STILL TOO SOON TO SAY
STAY TUNED TO THE F.R.F. JASON AND GERALD FOR THE LATEST ON THIS SITUATION
WE WILL CONTINUE TO MONITER IT FROM OUR HEADQUARTERS IN TOAST NC AND WINSTON-SALEM NC

Fox Forecasters - I hope you guys are correct. Van give you guys a great compliment and if you end up being close then we all should brag on you for the information you have provided us. Then maybe the two of you should go into the career of meterologist. I have enjoyed your post and once again you have me excited. Keep them coming!

The last two runs of the models don't look as favorable. This is the world of a meteorologist. We must present the forecast while the models flip flop all the time.

If it doesn't snow...it is the curse of Em Byrd

Monday Morning Update

THE MODELS HAVE BEEN IN SOMEWHAT OF A FLIP FLOP PATTERN SINCE YESTERDAY AFTERNOON. SOME MODELS ARE SHOWING MOISTURE COMING INTO OUR AREA AND OTHERS ARE JUST SHOWING COLD AIR. WE AREN'T READY TO TAKE THE WINTRY PRECIP OUT OF THE FORECAST JUST YET AS WE STILL HAVE SEVERAL DAYS TO MONITOR THIS EVENT. HOPEFULLY THE MODELS WILL COME INTO AGREEMENT AND GIVE US SOME OF THE WHITE STUFF OVER THE NEXT WEEK, HOWEVER ONLY TIME WILL TELL.

WE WILL CONTINUE TO UPDATE YOU ON THIS POTENTIAL WINTER WEATHER EVENT AS WE CONTINUE TO LOOK AT NEW COMPUTER MODELS.

ALSO THANKS TO VAN DENTON FOR HIS KIND WORDS, AND TO EMILY BYRD.

I'll be watching. I have some resourses that I look at for 8-10 days out. What sources are you guys using to get info farther than that out?
PS also keep in mind that we here in central NC are a somewhat fearful and panicky culture. If you even mention the "s" word, people start going into a panicky frenzy, so while I appreciate the long-range information, let's not send people into a "tizzy" as to what may or may not happen 14 days away.

Burlington_Rocker I would hope that everyone has enough common sense to know not to get in a tizzy knowing how our weather changes daily around here especially when it comes to winter precip.

I appreciate the hype you guys are bringing. It is up to each individual to take the information as what it is "just information" no promise of anything.

All we are doing is having some fun. We have NEVER EVER claimed to be meteorolgist. We are just a couple of guys that love weather and snow. We have got a memebership at a website and look at computer weather models. We don't want anyone to go in to PANIC mode and start buying all the bread and milk. Also we aren't in anyway trying to jump in on any of the fox 8 weather team. I hope they know this.

Once again we are just having fun with this and HOPE that everyone listen to there favorite weather site for the OFFICIAL forecast

HAVE A GOOD DAY!
