This September, Mattel plans to release
Black Canary Barbie as part of its "Barbie Loves Pop Culture" series. The company says it's a tribute to the DC Comics character and comes dressed in the trademark black leather, fishnet tights, and black boots the character always wore in comic books. Some religious groups disagree, and say the doll is just too racy. Has Barbie finally gone too far? Or should groups back down and take the doll as Mattel says it's intended -- a tribute to popular culture?

Will you add
Black Canary Barbie to your collection?

Blogger cindykay54, the FOX8 web team, FOX8 talent and
other loyal bloggers/chatters spent some time at the first-ever myfox blogger/chatter get-together on
Saturday.
Some
of our most loyal bloggers came out to talk to each other and to some
of the FOX8 talent. Van Denton and Caron Myers visited with the
bloggers, and we've posted a video which has some of the highlights
from the first ever event.
Note: We are planning an
event for later and plan to invite bloggers and chatters to
visit the FOX8 studios and meet some of the FOX8 talent. Stay tuned!
Please join blogger cindykay54, the FOX8 web team, FOX8 talent and others at the first-ever myfox blogger/chatter get-together on Saturday, Oct. 20.
The informal event will be held at Oak Hollow Lake in High Point at shelter #3 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Cindykay has done most of the work getting this organized, but we wanted to help her formally advertise it.
Cindy asks that everyone who attends brings a coat for FOX8's Give a Kid a Coat event, and you'll have to provide your own food, too.
At FOX8, we're trying to cook up some fun stuff, so please come join us. We look forward to meeting you!
Clay Aiken Does it Again

Apparently Clay Aiken isn't in to making friends. Of course you all remember the incident with him guest hosting Live with Regis and Kelly. While on air, Clay placed his hand over Kelly's mouth, creating a firestorm that lasted for days. Even Rosie O'Donnell sounded off, accusing Kelly of homophobia.
Now, Clay has brought his drama to the Piedmont. Over the weekend he performed with the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra for a Christmas concert. Apparently, Clay was scheduled to perform with a number of local artists -- all of whom were canceled from the show's bill at the last moment. So, only Clay performed.
Clay certainly didn't win any fans over after that incident. Whether it was his call or "his people," it definitely was not a decision made in the spirit of holiday of giving. One of the scheduled singers, a local teen, said not only was he told he wouldn't be able to perform with Clay, but when the two took a picture together, Clay exhibited less than star-like qualities.
So what's next for Clay? Who knows, but you can bet we're all curious to see how he proceeds into the New Year. And maybe with the January start of American Idol season six, we can only hope for another pleasant southern gentleman contestant from North Carolina to steal the hearts of millions.
