Count my daughter among the millions of pre-teens who love Miley Cyrus.  Count me as one of the parents who has added to Miley's and Disney's bankrolls because of it.  Miley says she's embarrassed by a photo Vanity Fair just published of her.  Now the magazine and her people and the photographer (the famed Annie Liebovich) are going back and forth over the circumstances surrounding the photo shoot.    Vanity Fair has won its  share of fans and critics with edgy photos like the naked pregnant photo of Demi Moore.  Edgy certainly has it's place, but I for one would rather Vanity Fair stick to shooting photos of adults and leave the Miley photos for some more age appropriate magazines.

"Miley says she's embarrassed by a photo Vanity Fair..."

Yeah, but is she or her agent or her Dad gonna send back the big check she got for the shoot?

Methinks not.

Come now, non-adult flesh can be peddled just as well as that of a Demi Moore. The fact that it was done via VF just makes it all the more "edgy" and profitable and perhaps just a bit more "legit".

If she's all pouty because of the "embarrassment", why doesn't she take the windfall therefrom and set up a fund for the parents of her wannabes who can't put gas in the mini-van or buy Lunchables?

I know, I dream big.

Oh for god sakes people! She's 15, you can't expect every decision she makes to be a winner. And even still, since when does she need permission from anyone but her own parents, which she clearly had, to do what she wants?

And to all of the parents that would judge over this photo, she is not your child! she does not require your approval!

As for the photo itself, good for her! she is embracing her woman-hood like a teenage girl is supposed to do.

Miley, if you read this, just know you have nothing to be embarrassed about.

I think the pictures were just a little to much.
If the pictures were not taken they could not be
in the magazine. They knew that when they allowed the photos to be taken, that they had no
control over which ones would be used. What did
her parents think? A sexy photo or a little girl? The parents should take the blame for the photos.

omg- That is just wrong. Even parents make mistakes, this was definately one that her parents made. She is 15, I have a 14 year old and if anyone saw her in such a sexual way , I would be horrified. I have made mistakes as a parent but I know that there are way to many child pediphiles,in the world without making our children easy targets .

I can't understand a parent that would cheapen their own child by allowing pictures such as these be taken. For pete sake where's the moral restraints. They ought to be ashame of these pictures and ashame of themselves.

Allowing trash like this sends the WRONG message to their daughter.

Redneck daddy hanging on his daughter's coat-tail of fame, along with the missing in action mother, have made a huge Achy-Breaky-Mistaky by letting their 15-year old daughter pose so seductively. Images like that, especially of children like Miley Cyrus, just add fuel to the pedophile's flames. Thumbs down for the Cyrus clan. BOO.

My opinion is that NO 15 year old child should ever be allowed to take such pictures!!!! This is so wrong in soooo many ways!!! And with all the emphasis these days on pedophiles....what was Annie and Miley's caretakers thinking???? Money and publicity...at the expense of a child! So wrong!

WeirdNiceGuy...I appreciate your comments, but you said it yourself, she is just a child!

You gotta feel sorry for these child stars--life is tough for them. And the track record is not good--look what happened to Corey Feldman, Robert Downey Jr., not to mention Britney and Lindsey. They are literally surrounded by people whose job it is to never tell them "no." And then you have their fan base (tweens) and their parents who don't want the squeaky-clean, PG, Disney persona to ever fade. But people grow up, and should not be persecuted for it. The Demi Moore comparison is not exactly fair--Demi showed a lot more skin. And art (and I'm inclined to think of Liebowitz as an artist) often takes the female (often nude or nearly nude)form as its medium. Sometimes it is offensive, but to equate the Vanity Fair shoot to kiddie porn is a bit of a stretch. Personally, I think this is good for her career--it makes the transition from tween superstar to adult (the transition that caused Britney Spears so much heartache and trouble) a little easier. She's outgrowing the Disney channel--and that's natural, and, dare I say it, good. I'm inclined to say let her be.

My question is, where are the police? If I was in possession of a picture of a 15 year old girl dressed like that, they would charge me with possessing child porn. Does is make a difference just because the photog was a professional and the the magazine wasn't Hustler?

Question,
What do people think will happen?
If a young girl see's it, like any 10 year olds read vanity fair, it's not like they're going to start dressing like that or do anything close to it.

"Oh no, my daughter saw the Miley Cyrus photo, now she's influenced by it and is slowly becoming a prostitute!" Yeah, like that's actually going to happen.

Besides, since everyone is making a big deal out of it, the chance of them seeing it is probably 50x what it would be if it stayed in vanity fair.

Here's another piont,

If your a good parent, you are your childs role model. all of these celebrities are just sources of entertainment. Cause you know, that's their job.

By condoning these pictures, sexualizing a 15 year old starlet, we are chip, chip, chipping away at our moral backbone.

Thumbs down to all involved. Miley likely didn't understand what kind of reaction said photos would provoke, but the adults surely did. They should be held to task for this transgression, and breach of their parental/adult responsibilities.

I think that if all of the people that objected to the photo shoot of Miley would boycott the next concert of hers. That would send a loud and clear message to her and her parents that such behaviour is

such behaviour is unacceptable. If she is going to be a role model for our youth then she better start acting like it. If she wants us to continue to support her career then she needs to earn the respect that goes along with the stardom. I know that is a lot to put on a 15 year old, but lets face it, she is leading a whole nation of 15 year olds. what kind of a role model is this photo shoot giving to our children?
