Bring your fathers, blankets, and chairs to the amphitheatre in Burlington's city park on Sunday June 15th, 2008. The band I play in will be performing from around 6pm until 7 or so, but there will be bands before and after ours. Come on by before you take your dads out to dinner. Great cover tunes with a twist, music by bands you all know and love such as The Beatles, Doobie Brothers, Foreigner, Collective Soul and many more. Details are below:

My wife normally gets home from work around 5 or 5:30. When she hadn't arrived by 6pm this past Friday, I called her. No answer. "Wait 5 minutes." I thought. Before that time had passed, she calls me back. "I'm running late, something at work, blah blah". I said okay, but it sounded a bit weird. She normally gets out of there as fast as possible on Fridays, no matter what.

Sure enough, my Red Flag that had been thrown up during that conversation had a good reason to it. As she got home and walked in the door... in her hands was a puppy.  A PUPPY!!

I am not a dog fan. At all. Puppies are cute, I give them that. Only problem, they grow up to be DOGS. Dogs that pee and poop.. Anywhere. Dogs that drool. Dogs that bark... All the time. Dogs that chew up my favorite shoes.

But, all kids grow up with at least one dog, right? My wife did, even I did and now I guess my daughter will. It's a breed mix of a rat terrier and a boston terrier. A "Brat" it's officially called. I call it a Rat Yankee. We'll see how it goes; I'll update from time to time how she is doing and how she gets along with the cats. Should be interesting! ~.

Saturday Night, Motley Crue front man, Vince Neil brought his solo tour to the Greensboro Colesium.

His solo band features Dana Strum and Jeff Blando from Slaughter, and a drummer (whose name I could not catch during the show).

After a very good opening by all members of Slaughter, and a so-so performance by Quiet Riot, (Nice to see royal-blue crush velvet pants again), Vince and his buddies played a set full of blistering hot Motley Crue tunes. Vince was in full form last night, and had the crowd of around 7,500 completely pumped up.Vince Neil Band

A portion of the set list included Livewire, Red Hot, Girls Girls Girls, Looks That Kill, Helter Skelter, and Wildside.

The rest of the band did a Zeppelin and Black Sabbath medley while Vince was taking a small breather. Since I was 1'st row almost dead center stage, the drumer and I made eye contact when he started the Sabbath song and I went nuts. Very unexpected. He say my reaction and tossed me a drumstick immediatly!

As a whole this was a great night of Motley Crue tunes. The whole crowd was singing along with every song, and the Vince was feeding off of the crowd’s energy. It was a great night of Rock and Roll and 80's nostalgia. Even though my ears are ringing today, it was well worth it!

Yes, I hit a semi-milestone today and decided it needed to be blogged about.

At 35

I still have lots of hair, even if some of it is gray. I’m ok with that.

I have even more body hair, and yes, some of it is gray too. I’m ok with that.

Some of it is now growing on and in my ears. Yeah it’s weird, but I’m ok with that.

For the first time I have glasses that are not by Oakley or Ray-Ban, they are by Prescription, and I’m ok with that.

I realize I’ll never be my military combat trim weight of 165lbs ever again; unless I’m dying. And I’m ok with that.

I spent 2 wonderful hours at the DMV getting my license renewed. My picture is horrible and I have to live with it for 8 years. But I’m ok with that.

Am I too old for a Myspace account? Only If I were a predator, so I’m ok with that.

I am no longer in the "prime demographic" of 18-34 years olds for TV shows. I’m really ok with that since I hardly watch TV anyhow.

Some of the music that I grew up with is now on classic rock stations, and I’m ok with that.

Most of the new music out there makes no sense to me, and I’m ok with that.

I now go to concerts to actually listen to and enjoy the bands instead of just hanging out to be seen. And I’m ok with that.

I can remember the invention of the Sony Walkman, the first CD and CD player, betamax, laserdisc, and those stupid Garbage Pail Dolls. And I’m ok with that.

I have seen every Star Wars movie; in theatres; When they first came out. And I’m ok with that.

I had a Stretch Armstrong toy when I was a kid. And I’m ok with that.

I'm not forgetful, I just get confused easily. I'll set my keys in the refrigerator and try to start my car with Aquafina. And I'm OK with that. It makes for a funny story to tell people later.

I find myself listening to talk radio more and more... and finding it interesting! One of these days, I’ll start calling in to them. And I’ll be ok with that then.

I remember when NASCAR raced Dodges (the first time around), Plymouths, Buicks & Oldsmobiles, and Pontiac was the new manufacturer on the block. And I’m ok with that.

I was at the track in Charlotte, NC in person when Jeff Gordon won his first race. And now it looks like he's on pace for his 5th championship. And like him or hate him, I'm OK with that.

I used to be a tech junkie and on the cutting edge of new products. Now I could care less about the newest technology. And my wallet is glad that I’m ok with that.

I now find myself teaching my 6 year old daughter that things were different when I was a kid. And I’m ok with that.

And lastly, it took me many years to settle down and get married, so I have a lot of catching up to do being a husband and a father. I'm up for the challenges, and I'm definitely OK with that!

Born and Raised in Alamance County, I've lived in a few other places in the the triad area virtually my entire life, except for a 5-year stint in the US Army that took me to numerous places around the country and around the world. Music is my primary passion. I've seen so many live shows, too many to count. Bands like Ac/Dc, Kiss, Metallica, Dave Matthews, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Mike-E, Guns N Roses, Cinderella, Ted Nugent, the list goes on and on. I like everything from old 80's hair band stuff to new age Christian rock to jazz to classic country. I play drums at our church almost every Sunday, and am touring locally with a new artist that just released their first CD. I am also a member of Triad Skywarn, the CoCoRaHS network, and a proud member of the Fox 8 Weather Watchers. If you want to learn more about any of those groups, feel free to ask me about them.
