These results don't surprise me.

However, some may consider the issues of the economy and illegal immagrants to be symbiotic.

FarmTruk,

I think the problem with the findings is that the social categorizations by academia is pretty screwed up.

For instance...

"Illegal immigrants" ...social
"Economy" ...social
"Abortion" ...social/political
"Education" = "Gun Control"

JQ -- you lost me on that post...

I have to say that I was really surprised that Education ranked so low and Illegal Immigrants ranked #1. Very surprised.

Hmmm...

I am not surprised about the immigrants ranking #1. It really is a big problem in our country.

Hey EB.

Perhaps I am wrong but when these polls are done, shouldn't they be categorized so that the answer choices that are given should all be in the same category? Doesn't it muddy the waters to have choices in different categories?

Just my opnion but I think a lot of us are scared when we have such a no-holds barred spending Congress (this goes for both parties).

It scares me even more when we read about intercontinental highway that is supposed to be going in. Now exactly how is this supposed to deter illegal immigration? Then you got Vincente Fox sayiing that he and Bush have talked about one currency for all of North America. Excuse me but I like my national sovereignty. I think many other people out there do.

The bad thing about the Fox8 poll is that you can vote as many times as you want. Most of the polls on the internet recognize you and just show you the results and you can't vote again.

Wait, maybe I am wrong. I thought Alan's poll lead to a web page outside Fox8? I'm confused now.

The poll was linked to the MyFoxWGHP.com Politics Page, which can also be reached directly by going to

I agree with HSM. It doesn't surprise me at all about immigration being top of the list. I would have voted that as my top issue if I had seen the poll. But, I am also surprised that education ranked so low. Folks, that's the only thing that will help us keep at least some of our good jobs. When we can afford to do the high-tech jobs as cheaply as India, maybe we will get back on top of our game and bring some of the good jobs back home! Personally, I don't like the idea of a foreign Country with foreign programmers developing the financial systems that run the businesses here in this Country. To me, that is opening the door for any number of things. Not to mention...we are now supporting India, too!

The Abortion issue is tops with me by far. I was not surprised by the results though.

Caddyboy, that is what I voted for too, but immigration is such a hot topic right now.

Well, I think anyone who has ever read any of my comments on the subject knows how I feel about abortion. That is one of the true tragedies of our society. When society preaches to young girls that "self" is more important than "life", how can we expect them to behave any different? Immigration on the other hand, is something that will almost certainly topple our society. It is a huge concern of mine.

How many million people are there left in Mexico ? Its population has to be down by 20 + million or a lot more. Immigration has to slow up sometime, there are only so many jobs us citizens wont do. Looks like we are going to be the most out of work people in the world with a minimum wage of what 6.15 per hour. Anyone know what the average wage of a UAW worker is??? :-)

Apparently illegal immigration is a hot news item everywhere except in the newsrooms.

The intercontinental highway is a super fast way to infiltrate this country. See, I used to write (say) my (our) country.

I do believe that some day in the not too distant future, there will be a continental monetary system. However, I believe that the U. S. system will be used as the model.

If Bill Clinton was the first Black President, then George W. Bush is the first Mexican President. After all, when he retires, he had to go live with them in Texas.

And, the average wage of a UAW worker is a lot.

If illegal immigration is the number one concern in this upcoming election, why has noone botherd to bring up the 10 lane intercontinental highway that will stretch from mexico to canada straight through our already insecure borders. Correct me if im wrong but a ten lane highway might have a slight effect on illegal immigration.
