College football's been very, very good to me this week.
Arkansas upset LSU 50-48 in triple overtime Friday in Baton Rouge.
This season has been less than fulfilling for the Razorback Nation, but at least for a week or so, people will be talking about fullback Peyton Hillis, instead of Fayetteville being more like Peyton Place.
Hillis, a senior fullback, would be the star running back at any other school. His three touchdowns in Tiger Stadium finally puts the spotlight on a publicity-challenged career as a Razorback. Of course, it's hard to make headlines when you've got McFadden and Felix Jones as teammates.
With such a surplus of talent, the Razorbacks were expected to win more than eight games this year, but excrement occurs. Now Arkansas can finish with a trip to a respectable bowl game and possibly nine wins.
I've
been a dual citizen most of my life. I
grew up calling the hogs in Arkansas, but was born
in north Louisiana. Most of my family roots are there, as is my
alma mater, the University of Louisiana Monroe (the other reason it's been a good
week: the Warhawks defeated Alabama last weekend
21-14).
I'm
letting the back story get in the way of true elation.
Arkansas 50, LSU 48 in 3OT. Oh Lord, it's hard to be humble when you're an Arkansas Razorback fan!
